It seems that adults in general lose the ability to play and start taking life exceptionally seriously and people with depression do that even more so. In depression there can often be lots of black and white thinking, lots of serious thinking, lots of negativity and we completely lose the ability to play.💙
I know that over the years I lost the ability to play and life just became serious and depressing and unending. There are different ways to play. You can play just in anything you do. You can add some kind of different way of doing it, add an extra element, try to make a game out of it, try to take the fun and enjoyment out of whatever activity you're doing.💙
It doesn't have to be play I'm going to go and do sports or play I'm going to fire up the Xbox. It can be just a playful attitude to whatever you're actually doing at that moment.💙
