Depression Tip 36: Toxic Society! 💙

Here are three quick things that society does to push back on us when we try to heal from depression. 💙

(and healing from depression isn't easy, so we can do without society pushing back on us!)

Sleep
So the first thing is sleep. Sleep is absolutely vital to healing from depression and to maintaining good mental health and physical health. But because our days are so pressured in modern society (we have so many jobs, so many things to do, so many responsibilities, so many bills to pay), that sleep is seen as expendable. 💙

How many times have you thought, "Oh, I'll just stay up an hour later at night" to get whatever it is done, or, "I'll wake up an hour early to get a jump on the day" and get whatever it is done? So sleep is seen as expendable and it's not! 💙

Exercise
Secondly a lot of us have jobs where we're largely immobile during the day. We're often sitting at a desk so we don't get the exercise we need from the jobs we do, so then we hit the gym to get the exercise We need in our spare time! But we've already seen we have very very little spare time .So exercise can also get sacrificed, which leads to the situation where we either don't heal from the illness we have or we get sick because we're not exercising as our body needs us to! 💙

Nutrition
Thirdly there's the nutrition. We know that it's best to eat whole foods, but whole foods take a lot of cooking, a lot of preparation, and then even a lot of eating because there's a lot of chewing involved if something's quite fibrous! Fast food is fast for a reason. It's fast because it appears in front of you quickly, but also it's quick to eat because the fiber has been stripped out and that is quite unhealthy! 💙

So those are three ways that a toxic society is pushing back on us when we're trying to heal from depression! 💙
