I just want to take a moment to talk about psychotic depression or depression with psychotic symptoms. This is actually a very extreme form of depression where the person has the normal symptoms of depression which are fatigue and disturbed sleep, overeating or under eating, a lack of taking pleasure in anything, being unable to concentrate, being indecisive, being irritated, being sad.💙

Someone who's having psychotic depression will also have disturbances of their grasp of reality, they will have hallucinations and delusions, maybe paranoid thinking, things like that. I read that one in four people who are admitted to hospital in the UK for depression are admitted because of psychotic depression.💙

So someone who's displaying evidence of having depression but also with hallucinations, delusions, hearing voices, maybe feeling paranoid, it's vital that they get treatment straight away.💙
